Wicca

Wicca is one of several life-affirming, earth-based religions - often referred to as the "Earth Religions" or "Pagans", when talking about the entire group.

There are many Traditions (similar to denominations) within the Earth Religions, including many different Wiccan Traditions.

What makes the Wiccan Traditions "Wiccan" (as opposed to being one of the other Earth Religions) is that Wicca focuses on a male Sun God and Earth Goddess, celebrates the cycles of the seasons and of life as a whole, uses folk magick (herbs, charms, amulets, etc.) and modified Ceremonial (Quabbalistic) magick as forms of prayer, and the use of a particular ritual format for most ceremonies or worship services. Followers of Wicca are commonly referred to as "Witches" - a term that applied to both males and females. The term "Warlock", often thought to refer to a male Witch is not used in the Wiccan religion.
